The Core Competencies We Expect from Our Employees

The following core competencies are shared with new employees as soon as they join the CNB team. We ask our team members to strive to possess each of these qualities so that we can provide our clients with a customer service experience that exceeds their expectations.

  1. Passion - The energy that comes from bringing more of YOU into what you do. Passion manifests itself in an employee's desire to do good when no one is watching, their ambition and desire to have a direct connection to their work. Passion is measured in terms of your intuition & empathy and self view.
  2. Being a part of the Citizens National Bank Family - The desire and ability to fit into an existing culture where the values are common amongst all employees and the entire organization. This competency manifests itself in the employee's ability to have a "whatever it takes" attitude to help out a team member and to also exhibit a helpful attitude towards their coworkers. The employee shows respect to their team members and manager. This family-orientation is measured in terms of intuition & empathy.
  3. Relationship Builder - Is pleasant, cooperative, and gets along well with others. Keeps manager informed, reports problems promptly, and seeks guidance when needed. Develops and maintains a network of personal contacts within the organization and with customers. Is courteous, patient, pleasant and helpful with customers; shows understanding for customers' concerns; takes action to accommodate customer needs whenever possible. The relationship building competency is measured in terms of intuition & empathy.
  4. High Energy - A desire to get tangible business results; takes actions to achieve favorable outcomes for the organization, beyond minimum performance expectations, and seeks opportunities to improve work procedures and/or efficiencies. This competency is measured in terms of results orientation & decisiveness and in self awareness.
  5. Flexible & Adaptive - Adapts approach to fit with changing conditions, tasks, responsibilities, or people. This competency is measured in terms of results orientation & decisiveness and in self awareness.
  6. Ability to Realize One's Own Potential - The ability to know one's own strengths, weaknesses, and interests. This competency manifests itself in self confidence and desire for self improvement without being defensive or in denial. This competency is measured in terms of self awareness.
  7. Accountable - The rules, values, expectations and standards an employee imposes on themselves in knowing right from wrong and having self direction and discipline in following through with what they have promised and/or agreed to, as well as the ability to follow company policies and procedures. This competency is measured in terms of adherence & organization and self expectations.
  8. Team Oriented - Putting egos aside and having a "whatever it takes" attitude to help out coworkers and/or team members to achieve a common goal. This competency is actually a combination of several areas measured in terms of adherence & organization, self awareness, self view and self expectations
  9. Doing Things the Right Way - Establishes high goals for self and others; doesn't cut corners in completing a task and/or a project and is focused on making sure their work is accurate and correct. This competency is measured in terms of adherence & organization and self expectations.
  10. Seeing the Big Picture - The ability to think strategically in focusing on how their work and decisions impact the organization's goals. This competency is actually a combination of several areas measured in terms of results orientation & decisiveness, adherence to organization and self expectations.
